Ourginal was established in 2020 when two of the industry’s leaders, Urkund and PlagScan, joined forces to improve academic integrity and promote original thinking. In 2021, Ourginal joined Turnitin to combine teams, expertise, and resources to further champion academic integrity and authentic learning—globally and impactfully.

It is a completely automated system against plagiarism (Anti-plagiarism software) and is being successfully used at universities and colleges all around the world. Ourginal's system checks all documents against three central source areas:

a. The Internet

b. Published material such as Journals, Books etc.

c. Previously submitted student material (e.g. memoranda, case studies and examination works)

Create an Ourginal User Account

Teachers: Apply directly to Ourginal by sending an e-mail to the customer support [http://www.urkund.com/en/support ] requesting for an account. State your name, the name of your educational organisation and your work-email. The support staff will create an account for you and send a registration confirmation OR send a request to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. stating your name, the name of your department and your work-email. (Provide your students with your Ourginal analysis address) You will receive an mail from Ourginal asking to activate the account. You need to activate it by clicking on the link provided by Ourginal to you by email. Students: Go to http://www.urkund.com, click on ‘Log in’, then click on ‘Log in the Ouriginal system’, click on ‘Create account for document upload (Students)’. Go ahead and create the account.

 How Ouriginal works?

Ourginal never determines what a plagiarism is, but Ourginal compares textual similarity and subject similarity. The reports generated by Ourginal to your teachers consist, in the event of its finding similarities, of a text comparison. Ourginal marks your document that are similar to other sources, in Ourginal's archives, on the Internet and in published material, and give the teacher access to the original material where Ourginal have found the similarity.

What file formats are supported by Ourginal?

Ouriginal supports the following file formats .doc, .docx, .sxw, .ppt, .pptx, .pdf, .txt, .rtf, .html, .htm, .wps, .odt

What is the document limits to be submitted? 

Every document submitted for plagiarism check will be treated as a separate document. Documents containing more than 400,000 characters will be considered as more than one document (actual number to be calculated using multiples of 400,000 characters, so 800,001 characters would be 3 documents)....more
